On May 10th, Science and Technology Department of Gansu Province organized a group of experts to carry out on-site completion acceptance of "Active Substances and Drug Basis of Gansu Characteristic Chinese Herbal Medicine", which is a major project of Gansu Natural Science Foundation undertaken by Lanzhou University. Liang Yunsheng, second-level inspector of Science and Technology Department of Gansu Province, Cui Haixing, third-level researcher of Basic Science Office, Science and Technology Department of Gansu Province, Li Yumin, vice president of Lanzhou University, and Wang Chaoping, vice president of the office of Science and Technology attended the meeting. The confernence was chaired by Liang Yunsheng.
From Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Northwest Normal University, Lanzhou University of Technology, Gansu Academy of Medical Sciences, lanzhou Jiaotong University,the experts reviewed the materials, and listened to the project leader,Professor Wang Wei's final report, and then they conducted on-site investigation and questioning.
Multidisciplinary research team of the project used codonopsis, radix glycyrrhizae, radix et rhizoma rhei, radix scutellariae and pedicularis from local Chinese Herbal Medicine to separate and identify 244 compounds, 21 new structures, and synthetized 133 molecules of related natural products and their derivatives forming the characteristics of compound library. On this basis, 36 kinds of activity evaluation models were established, and more than 40 active molecules were found in which the mechanisms of 4 active molecules was elucidated. With 6 authorized invention patents, 1 achievement transformation, 3 follow-up cooperative research and development agreements the contract amount of the project is 23.9 million yuan, and 13 million yuan has been entered into the account. The expert group agreed that the project has formed the integration of separation and synthesis, high-throughput screening, research and achievements and the research and development chain of "Gansu characteristic active material of Traditional Chinese Medicine and medical basic research system", and formed the high level cooperation R&D team and platform for systematic study of the Traditional Chinese Medicine in Gansu province, overfulfilling the evaluation index of the project plan, which was agreed to pass the acceptance of the project.
In recent years, State Key Laboratory of Applied Organic Chemistry has focused on the national strategy and local economic and social development needs, actively adjusted and optimized the layout of scientific research, and organized research teams to jointly tackle major scientific and technological tasks. In October 2016, the laboratory promoted the establishment of Lanzhou University Baiyin Industry Institute of Technology to accelerate the implementation and transformation of basic research achievements. The projects was jointly undertaken and completed by State Key Laboratory Applied Organic, Lanzhou University Baiyin Industry Institute of Technology and Gansu Haotian PharamaTech Co., Ltd., which is the integration of the local characteristic resources and the advantages of the basic research, and the need of application transformation as a the model of production-study-research cooperation. The completion of the project not only provided technical support and model reference for the high-value utilization of Chinese Medicinal Materials in Gansu Province, but also condensed strategic scientific and technological forces to provide preliminary experience and important ideas for the laboratory to implement the decision and deployment of the CPC Central Committee and make a good preparation for the reorganization of SKLA.
