Recently, the People's Government of Gansu Province issued “the Decision on Science and Technology Awards of Gansu Province in 2021". The creation of organic porous materials project declared by Professor Wang Wei's team (main researchers: Wang Wei, Ding Sanyuan, Ma Tianqiong) won the special prize of the 2021 Natural Science Award of Gansu Province. Focusing on the key scientific problem of "how to across-scale achieve accurate Covalent Organic Materials (COFs)", in the project the researchers systematically developed dynamic covalent bond, which made a progressive breakthrough in assembly chemistry from disordered to ordered polycrystal, and then realized the creation of single-crystal organic porous materials in a new level of precision and complexity. On this basis, the researchers continued to study in depth and developed the direction of organic porous catalysis, and then took the lead in accomplishing the innovative application of orgnic porous materials in the fields of catalysis, chiral catalysis and photocatalysis, which provided a new possibility for the integration of homogeneous catalysis and industrial heterogeneous catalysis. At the same time, they developed in Situ Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) to obtain dynamic spatiotemporal structure information, which provides vital data for elucidating structure-activity relationships of organic porous materials. The series of new materials named after LZU (the acronym for Lanzhou University) has been widely followed with interest and researched by more than 800 institutions in 72 countries. 27 papers were published in the project, and each paper was cited more than 200 times. The creation is evaluated as a "milestone" in the development of organic porous materials.
