报告人简介

P. Andrew Evans is a Professor and Alfred R. Bader Chair of Organic Chemistry in Department of Chemistry at Queen’s University. He received a Ph.D. from University of Cambridge (Andrew B. Holmes, FRS) in 1990 with a following NATO Postdoctoral research at University of Texas at Austin (Philip D. Magnus, FRS). Since 1993, he joined University of Delaware and was promoted to a Professor in 2000. Then, he worked at Indiana University (2001-2006) and The University of Liverpool (2006-2012). From 2012 until now, he is a Professor at Queen’s University and a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Organic and Organometallic Chemistry. 

He has won numerous awards and has been extremely active in the community. For example, he was awarded an NIH First Award (1997), Eli Lilly Grantee Award (1998), GlaxoWellcome Chemistry Scholar Award (1999), Novartis Pharmaceuticals Academic Achievement Award (2000), Johnson and Johnson Focused Giving Award (2001), Novartis Chemistry Lectureship (2007), RSC Pedler Award (2009), ACS Fellow (2011), etc. He is on the advisory editorial boards or editorial boards of several international journals including: Tetrahedron and Tetrahedron Letters (from 2003), Chemical Communications (2005-2007, 2008-2010), Letters in Organic Chemistry (from 2006), Synlett and Synthesis (Associate Editor, from 2010), Organic Reactions (Editor, from 2015). 

His research interests are primarily focused on the exploration and development of new metal-catalyzed reactions and their application to the total synthesis of complex bioactive natural products. He has published over 100 papers, articles, reviews and monographs. He has also delivered nearly 500 plenary and invited lectures at international conferences, symposia, universities, research institutes and companies.
