                 Without External Chiral Sources

报告人简介

Prof. KIM received his B.S. in Pharmacy and M.S. in Medicinal Chemistry (Advisor: Prof. Deukjoon Kim) from Seoul National University in 1988 and 1990, respectively. After spending one year in Korea Institute of Science and Technology as a Chemistry Research Scientist, he moved to US and then pursued his doctorate in Organic Chemistry at University of Pennsylvania under the supervision of Prof. Jeffrey D. Winkler. In 1997, he obtained his Ph.D. degree from University of Pennsylvania. After that, he made one-year postdoc stay with Prof. K.C. Nicolaou at The Scripps Research Institute, and another one-year working experience as a Senior Research Scientist in Abbott Laboratories, Infectious Diseases Research, USA. Since 1999, he joined Seoul National University. In the first two years (1999-2001), he worked at the Natural Products Research Institute of Seoul National University as an Assistant Professor. From 2001 until now, he works at College of Pharmacy of Seoul National University, wherein he was promoted as a full professor in 2008. 

His research interests are mainly focused on the total synthesis of natural products, the medicinal chemistry and drug discovery as well as the electrochemical & photochemical bioorganic chemistry. He is also the awardee of many awards such as 2007 The Distinguished Lectureship Award by The Chemical Society of Japan, 2010 Young Pharmaceutical Scientist Award by The Pharmaceutical Society of Korea, 2010 Seoul National University Research Award by Seoul National University, 2011 Sim-Sangcheol Research Award by The Korean Chemical Society, and 2015 Shinpoong-Howall Research Award by Shinpoong Pharm. Co. Ltd.
