报告人简介

Prof. Snyder pursued his undergraduate studies at Williams College in Williamstown, MA, and in 1999 began his graduate studies with Professor K. C. Nicolaou at The Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, CA. In 2004, he was trained as a NIH postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Prof. E. J. Corey at Harvard University. He began his independent career in 2006 at Columbia University and then moved to The Scripps Research Institute (Jupiter, FL) in 2013, where he was promoted as an Associate Professor with tenure. In September of 2015, he was recruited by the University of Chicago as a Full Professor.

His research interests are devoted to the synthesis of complex natural products as well as the development of new reagents that have enabled access to a diverse array of halogenated molecules. Prof. Snyder is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the Arthur C. Cope Scholar Award from the ACS (2011), an Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Research Fellowship (2010), and the NSF CAREER Award (2009). In addition to excellent research, he is also a recognized educator, having co-authored several widely-used textbooks, such as “Classics in Total Synthesis II (Wiley)”and “Organic Chemistry （11^th and 12^th Editions, Wiley）”.
