Successful hosting of the second session of the Chemistry and Biomedical Scientists Forum at Lanzhou University

On April 29, the second session of the Chemistry and Biomedical Scientists Forum, jointly initiated and hosted by the National Key Laboratory of Functional Organic Molecule Chemistry, College of Pharmacy, and the First Clinical Hospital of Lanzhou University, was successfully held in Room 101 of the Second Chemistry Building at the Chengguan Campus (West District) of Lanzhou University. The forum invited Professor Xiao Wenjing from Central China Normal University, Professor Lei Aiwen from Wuhan University, Professor Wang Chunjiang from Wuhan University, and Professor Wan Qian from Huazhong University of Science and Technology as keynote speakers. More than 200 people, including Professor Liang Yongmin, Dean of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Lanzhou University, Professor Wang Wei, Director of the National Key Laboratory of Functional Organic Molecule Chemistry, Deputy Director Professor She Xuegong, Professor Fan Chunan, Professor Wang Shaohua, Dean of the College of Pharmacy, and some teachers and graduate students from the National Key Laboratory of Functional Organic Molecule Chemistry, attended the forum. The opening ceremony of the forum was presided over by Professor Wang Wei.

Professor Wang Wei expressed heartfelt gratitude for the arrival of the four keynote speakers and hoped that this series of forum activities could promote interdisciplinary integration and cooperation among chemistry, biology, medicine, materials, and other fields. He also wished that young scholars could better develop their scientific research careers, gain a deeper understanding of the original intention of scientific research, and grasp the paradigms of scientific inquiry.

The four keynote speakers of the forum delivered academic reports titled “Visible Light Induced Controlled Radical Reactions and Beyond”,“Dehydrogenative Cross-Coupling Reactions”, “Bimetallic Cooperative Catalysis for the Construction of Chiral α-Amino Acids and Heterocyclic Molecules”, and “Synthesis of Carbohydrate Drugs Based on Sulfur Chemistry”. They introduced the latest research progress and achievements in their respective fields, shared their research insights, and engaged in interactive discussions with the faculty and students present. The forum not only provided a platform for academic exchange but also fostered a positive academic atmosphere, further stimulating everyone's enthusiasm for scientific research.
